The all-ceramic crown has become the restoration of choice for so many dentists and patients alike. However, the success of this restoration is dependent on the dentist?s attention to detail in treatment planning, tooth preparation, as well as coping design. Despite the high success rate with these restorations there is still a small percent of failure. The major causes of these failures will be discussed. This presentation will also deal with principles of success of the all-ceramic crown focusing on simplified but efficient tooth preparation techniques.

About the Author

DR. RONALD GOLDSTEIN: Dr. Ronald Goldstein is currently Clinical Professor of Oral Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, Augusta, Georgia, Adjunct Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Visiting Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging and Continuing Education at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, California, Adjunct Professor of Restorative Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas and formerly a Special Lecturer in Esthetic Dentistry at Emory University School of Dentistry, Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Goldstein has presented continuing education courses at more than twenty universities and lectured at over 300 dental meetings in the United States, Canada, South America, Australia, the Orient and throughout Europe. He is a contributor to ten published texts and author of the text Esthetics In Dentistry, published by B. C. Decker. He is co-author of other texts, including Bleaching Teeth, Porcelain Laminate Veneers, Porcelain and Composite Inlays & Onlays, Complete Dental Bleaching, and Imaging in Esthetic Dentistry — all published by Quintessence Publishing Company. His best-selling consumer book for the public entitled Change Your Smile, now in its third edition, is also published by Quintessence, and has been read by over l,000,000 people and has been translated into six languages. He writes a regular column entitled, “Beauty Matters” for the Season magazine.
