Book Description
When surgery is the best option for the patient, surgeons can find plenty of effective procedures in any number of books. Yet these resources often start with the operation itself, without covering the most efficient means of accessing the applicable region. Now there is an authoritative guide to the anatomical and technical aspects of the best approaches to the facial skeleton. This volume demonstrates ALL of the surgeon’s options, augmented with excellent full color artwork and photography of cadaver sections. Coverage includes basic principles; periorbital approaches; the coronal approach; transoral approaches; transfacial approaches to the mandible; approaches to the temporomandibular joint; and approaches to the nasal skeleton. Authoritative and beautifully illustrated, this atlas will help surgeons plan and carry out surgical procedures more efficiently.

A good book for oral and maxillofacial surgeons January 10, 1999
This color atlas of surgical approaches, planes, and technique is an excellent book for facial surgeons to add to their collection. The book is authored by two premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons which should also prove useful to persons in the field of plastic surgery interested in facial surgical technique.
Great new second edition! January 21, 2006
I am an Army Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and just looked through my new second edition. I have used this book for several years now, through residency, and have found it to be very helpful. The new 2nd edition is much better with updated photos and illustrations, new approaches, and great explanations. I have shared this book with my ENT/Head & Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery colleagues. I recommend this text to residents, fellows and practitioners.
For dent stds who are interested in OMFS & OMFS residents January 11, 2005
I previewed this book at my school’s library and was recommended to me by an OMFS resident during my externship. After flipping through the pages, the illustrations were precise and the surgical approaches and step are spelled out in detail. It was a great to see specific procedures, steps, and illustrations in this reference text after I’ve seen it in the OR. I’ve heard that Dr. Ellis is currently working on the 2nd edition of this text due out in August 2005. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of that edition! Good luck locating a copy of the current edition, it’s out-of-print and no online bookstores have this book in stock.
