Author: Mathur Pramod Bansi, Mathur Sanjay Bansi

Few decades back painful/broken/discolored teeth were extracted and replaced by artificial teeth. This old concept nowadays is changing and the patient is well aware of the newer techniques and insist upon the treatment that can save their natural teeth. During graduation courses in dentistry one learns very less about this advanced technology of RCT and later runs here and there to attend short endodontic courses etc. but never get answer to all the questions rising in his/ her mind. Realizing this psychology the author has written this book to cover not only the theory, but to cover the practical/ actual working part of the endodontics so that one can become master in performing RCT. This book with simple language, short and tabulated text, with easy to learn method using actual extracted human teeth as models and movies are also captured while actually working on these teeth, will clarify all the doubts in the mind of the readers. The sound filled in all the PPT slides as commentaries shall also explain the text and working being done, very clearly. There are 95 such PPT slides on accompanying DVD, which will explain even minutest details about “Endodontics”. The special feature of the book lies in chapter-11, where the author has given an exclusive” bio-data” of each tooth, covering its average length, number of roots, number of root canals, lateral canals if present, location of apical foramen, i.e. on apex or on lateral side of apex, bore size of the diameter of the canal measured from apex at a distance of 1, 2, 3, 5, mm away and to what size the canal should be widened finally. This method of explaining combines many subjects together such as dental anatomy, physiology, pathology, root canal treatment, etc. The reader doesn’t have to read all these subject books separately. In this book, history, clinical diagnostic methods, diseases of the pulp, diseases of the apical tissues, etc. are condensed in a table-form, but of course completely covering all the details like name of disease, definition, causes, sign and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, etc. along with figures, movies, etc. for the better and crystal clear understanding. The different root canal cements are also tabulated, covered under headings of name of cement, its commercial or brand name, its composition, advantages, disadvantages, etc. “Root resection operation”, (Apicectomy and or curettage), is explained with photos and movies both in anterior and posterior teeth. A case report of root resection operation is presented both in the book as well as in movie on accompanying DVD. The patient’s operation consent-perform is also given for the safety of the operating surgeon. Treatment of traumatized or fractured front teeth is also given, well supported with figures and movies.
